If you choose (a), then you will need to obtain information on the subject matter of your brochure from somewhere. For example, if you’re writing a brochure about selecting the right type of bicycle for the right age and gender of rider, you might go to a few bike shops and get written information. Alternatively, if you’re creating a public health brochure about hygienic food preparation in restaurants, you should check information from the Queensland Department of Health or the Brisbane City Council to find out more about this issue.You can, if you wish, create a brochure for an organisation or issue in which you are interested or invested in some way. That could be an issue (eg, effective recycling; where to find accommodation in Brisbane; tenants’ rights; eating organic food) or an event (eg, a local fete; a sporting event; a concert; a festival), or an organisation (a gaming club; a religious organisation; a writing group). Perhaps you have a real client in mind, such as a friend, family member, or acquaintance who has a business or service to promote? If so, sit down with that person and discuss what they want from their brochure, then continue to liaise with your client as the project progresses.3. If you choose (b), then you should find a brochure that you believe is poorly written and/or poorly designed. You should then re-work the brochure so that its message is conveyed more effectively. Please include a copy of the original brochure with your revised version.4. In choosing (a) or (b), assume that you are in a corporate situation and that you are presenting a proposed brochure to your colleagues, managers, or your clients. This means that a written explanation is needed to accompany your creation.In this explanation, you would state:i. who the client / organisation isii. what the brief is (i.e.,- why was the brochure commissioned)iii. who the target readership/audience is.In explaining your brochure, you would also highlight the elements of the brochure (eg, teaser panel; use of graphics; word count; choice of colour), as well as explaining your language choices, use of redundancy, and so on. You may also explain your distribution method, the size of your print run (if any), and other logistical features.Note that as you have not been taught DTP or similar as part of the unit, you are not expected to produce a finished product. You may, though, include a mock-up of your brochure to explain its features. A mock-up is most welcome, but not compulsory. Artistic ability is not a criterion (namely, there is no penalty for people who cannot draw).Due Date: 27 September, before 23:59Word Count: 1200–1500 words (including both the brochure copy and the commentary).
